Fall Fashion Favorites

Updated: Sep 13, 2018

Strike a pose this Fall

It's time! Time to get ready for probably thee most fashionable season of the year (in my opinion). Fall is my favorite time of year! I can't explain it, but it's just the vibe that it gives off. It's warm, cozy, and the weather is just right. Fall makes me think of crunchy leaves under my shoes as I walk down the street to my destination. The season cues chunky scarves, leather jackets, chic boots, and a warm drink from your fave cafe. There are some timeless fashion trends that will never go out of style and then there are some that make a "in your face" comeback; causing you to regret those items you either threw away or gave away seasons ago. With that being said, let this fashion-forward post be your guide as you get ready for the upcoming season. This is the perfect guide as you go school shopping or just simply want to revamp your closet with something new. My #aesthetic, is to research what's trending, then emulate the styles that interest me the most with what I already possess within my closet. This technique gives new life to clothes that I already have; causing me to never get frustrated with my wardrobe. That is the beauty of fashion: to express your personality through clothing. So feel free this Fall season to mix the old with the new, take risks, and overall be yourself!

8 Fall Trends:

1. Mix Matched Prints

Don't be afraid to marry your polka dotted pieces with stripes or any other printed pieces of clothing you own with another pattern. The key is for the differing patterns to contain a solid color that will bring the outfit together (such as a black blouse with white polka dots and white pants with black stripes). You can also try mixing two different flowery prints (such as a blouse and skirt combo)!

2. Red All Over

Lipstick, dress, pantsuit, sneakers, pumps, handbag...have the audacity to match your outfit accordingly; making a fashion statement and demanding attention everywhere you go. If red isn't your color then confidently try this fashion-technique with the color of your choice that gives you nothing but confidence. I suggest a dark rich wine color such as maroon ( also try dark brown and tan) that is a Fall favorite and becoming of the season.

3. Animal Prints

Let your wild side breakthrough in prints that express how daring you truly are! Zebra, leopard, tiger (oh my), have at it this season mixing these fierce prints with solid colors or dominate your "concrete jungle" in head to toe animal print. It all depends on how bold you are.

4. Over-sized Coats

This season demands that you either go big or stay at home! Roomy coats that are chic and cozy have been seen on a plethora of runways; from windbreakers to wool. This staple is classy yet cool as you can drape it over your shoulders when you go out to dine or pair it with jeans when you're running errands.

5. Bright Tights

Don't hold back when it comes to choosing bold colors to implement into your wardrobe. Tights are making a comeback this Fall enabling you to flaunt them with a solid tone dress or skirt. I suggest accessories of the same color as your tights to complete your look.

6. Classic Pieces

Plaid prints, blazers, and anything that is considered business attire! Word on the street is that “street wear” is fading out of style being replaced with more refined staples that showcase that you are a fashionable professional.

7. The Return of the 80s

Get your mama’s shoulder pads to add that 80s signature look to your style. Wide shoulders with a tapered waist is the look to go for; either with an over-sized sweater belted or large blazer with added shoulder pads to pull off the iconic silhouette.

8. Ruching Right

This technique is the gathering of fabric that causes a ripple effect. It goes hand in hand with blousing a top to conceal belly pouch. This style is flattering on most body types and is an ode to the 80s from whence it began!

8 Fall Favorites:

1. Boots

Either ankle or over-the-knee, boots, are thee accessory that dominate this season year after year without ever becoming

faux-pas!

2. Leather Jackets

This season, long leather jackets are taking over, but leather jackets never get kicked to the curb when Fall comes around. Think big (over-sized) when you make your next purchase to stay on your A-game!

3. Sweaters

My favorites are large turtleneck knits and cropped top sweaters. The thicker the sweater, the better! You won't need a jacket to keep you warm; showing off your swag!

4. Flats

Backless, Loafers, ballerina-inspired; these styles are the perfect shoe from office to dinner or from having brunch to running errands right after.

5. Denim

This will never go out of style! Over-sized denim jackets and mom-jeans are on my fashion-radar this season. The more wholly your jeans, the better. Denim is a constant classic in everyone's wardrobe because it literally goes with every and anything. You can dress it up or down to fit your mood/occasion!

6. Hats

Beanies and wide-brim make their cameo every Fall

Season as a favorite go-to accessory regardless of whether or not it’s a “bad hair day”!

Checkout these satin lined beanies that protect your hair while enabling you to stay fly. You can wear it to bed as a night cap and/or out when you’re doing your thing!

7. Faux Fur

Look glamorous without harming animals! Faux fur makes every outfit look chic whether it be a faux fur bag, vest over your fave denim jacket, or a chic-cozy hat. You can never go wrong with adding some faux fur to your wardrobe this Fall.

8. Sneakers

Chunky sneakers: The bulkier, the better. This style is reminiscent of sneakers of the 80s era that first paved the way to making sneakers mainstream. Sock sneakers are also trending as the go-to sneaker style; being a clever combination of sneaker and socks. Wearebasket.com dubs the staple as “(...)comfortable and futuristic looking(...)”. Other sneaker trends to keep in mind include color blocking (rainbow inspired), 90s retro (basically whatever sneakers you wore then), and pastel colors (cotton candy pink, etc).
