Fall Feelings

This is my favorite time of year, hands down! 2020 has been a trying time for everyone, but I won’t allow it to cramp my sense of style nor the cozy vibe that the season always gives me. We are living in stressful times, but you don’t need to be stressed out about how to update your wardrobe with the latest #falltrends. Since the start of the #pandemic, designers and stylists have been encouraging more laidback looks that are easy to put together (and nothing but comfortable)! Personally, I don’t like fashion that is complicated. I call it “functional fashion”. No one should have a hard time trying to get into a dress or a jacket because of its “uniquely intricate” design. I’d rather wear a plain sweatshirt and style it with jewelry than have to deal with the headache of some designer’s vision of style.

In this post, I share the trends that are in my closet currently. These are my favorite fall styles that make me feel relaxed and chic all at the same time.

Right now, I’m working full-time while I continue to establish myself as an artist. A lot of us are hustling even harder to pay the bills. A lot of my sense of style comes from my personal interests as an artist.

I’m very bohemian and natural (aside from my stiletto acrylic nails, lol). I belly dance and play guitar. Yet I’m also working on making my own beats and I’m rehearsing songs (my own as well as covers) to create an EP. Sometimes I’m hip hop and sometimes I’m neo-soul. Truthfully I’m a unique blend of both. I share all of this because you can see it in my sense of style by the clothes I wear and how I accessorize.

Currently, I’m interested in matching hoodies, sweatshirts, joggers, and sweatpants to pair with blazers. The pairing of these two trends as one outfit is not only laidback but polished all at the same time. Face-to-face meetings are still prohibited at this time, but if you have a scheduled Zoom meeting, then this look is too easy to pull off. Blazers, without fail, makes everyone look professional and smart. Another plus about this style trend is that you don’t need to break the bank to pull it off.

Most of us already have these items in our closet. If you don’t have a matching set then you can just pair your hoodie or sweatshirt with jeans or leggings with your blazer over your choice of hoodie or sweatshirt. Or vice versa, by pairing your blazer with a top underneath and sweatpants or a pair of matching joggers!

The staples that are always necessary every fall season are chunky knit sweaters, denim everything (jeans, jackets, tops), and boots. Right now, I’m really into ThredUP! I’ve made a few purchases from their app and I must say it can be a little addicting.

Their prices are convenient and affordable. Everything is in good condition considering the items are all secondhand. When making multiple purchases from ThredUP, I would recommend choosing the “bundle” option at checkout. You pay a small fee, but it is worth it. When I made my first purchase, my items came separately and days apart because they were coming from different locations.

My only complaint about the trending fashion app is how the items are packaged. When my purchases were delivered the mailman would toss them on my porch or at my front door causing my packages to become dirty (the dirt may also come from the back of the mailman’s vehicle, idk). If the items were sent in boxes then I feel that the packages wouldn’t get as dirty. I’ve never noticed any dirt on my Amazon boxes when their placed at my door. But other than that everything else was easy and convenient. I don’t know how their return policy is because I haven’t had to return anything yet. But I would suggest not bothering to sell with them. Because of the pandemic, their wait-time for your items to be processed and available on their app to be sold is ridiculous! You would be better off trying to sell your clothing and accessories at your local thrift store boutique.

I’m trying to share at least one post and one new video a week as we continue to weather the storm of this pandemic. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who supports my brand!

Until Next Time, Santé!
