Today I will highlight my favorite styles for this upcoming Spring that I can’t wait to get my hands on! Be sure to checkout the links below for the “full throttle” of trends that you may be interested in (such as wedge sandals, adding some volume to the traditional "flip flop").
1. GEOMETRIC HANDBAGS are putting a spin on the basic purse updating it to “2018 standards”. Designers have stepped “outside of the box” to redefine the classic feminine staple. This trend is sleek, chic, and effortless as you can mix them with jeans and a blouse or dress it up for a night out with your bae!
2. Marc Jacobs has legitimize simple TURBANS revolutionizing them into “fashion-forward” staples that will keep you cool as the days grow warmer. What I adore about this trend is that they are a great alternative on “bad hair days” in lieu of a beanie or wide-brim hat! Plus, they highlight one’s face while concealing the hair causing your awesome facial features to be the center of attention. When I wear a turban or scarf knotted on my head I like to “do up” my makeup taking it from “laid back natural” to “high fashion glam” instantly.
3. BIG & BOLD jewelry is stealing the show! As they say: “the bigger, the better” and Spring 2018 is all about pressing the envelope when it comes to jewelry; especially bracelets such as bangles as seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim and earrings. Personally, I’m digging on the one huge earring trend. Lately, I’ve been rocking one large hoop earring in my left ear and a stud earring in my right ear, but I’m looking forward to stepping out this Spring with a huge funky earring in one ear. Be ready to advise people that you are doing it “on purpose” as I am sure someone will say “I think you lost an earring...”!
4. TRANSPARENT, see through, and clear as can be are these shoes and purses that are back on the scene! I’m not quite sure when this style originated...I’m thinking possibly the 60's when the “mod” style was all the rage because the transparent boots with the color blocking trim is very reminiscent of the iconic era. BUT I do recall seeing it when I was growing up in the 90's/early 2000's. I had a “see through” purse, backpack, practically the whole-9! I like this Spring 2018 trend because it gives me “90's vibes” cuing “Clueless” in my membrane. Just be careful of what is actually seen in your bag! For the funky: I recommend some colorful makeup pouches to conceal your items. And for the minimalist: neutral colored pouches that are simple, yet tame, and go with anything.
5. EXTRA WIDE DENIM is “in” as noted on Elle.com where they also reveal that “top buyers” have officially announced that skinny jeans are out as a result! This trend is great for slender women who want to add some dimension to the silhouette of their outfit. This style is also another staple that is reminiscent of circa 1990-something; making for a fashionable yet cozy choice for either a low-key brunch date or simply add a wedged heel for that party/event you’re invited to! The reason I like this for the Spring is because it’s similar to the Bell-bottom style of the 70's and I adore wide bottomed pants that practically conceal your shoes, but I’m petite so I #haveto wear heels so the bottom of the pants won’t drag.
And that completes my list. I hope you found it educational and that it will help guide your “Spring Style Aesthetic” for the upcoming season.
