Netflix & Chill

As some states are reopening, there are others that remain under a #StayAtHome order. I know that when I’m in the house, I like to be cozy while still looking chic. I have a lot of lounge wear items because I like to look my best not only when I go out, but also in the house. This simplified post shares some of my favorite staples, what‘s #trending, as well as what I’m watching on #netflix while looking cute; giving you #styleinspiration while elevating your #aesthetic!

My Lounge Wear Favorites:

Sweater from Kohl’s. Cut to my liking; giving it a distressed look.

When my clothing has run its course, I like to extends its value so I can wear it around the house. I’ll remove the collar or cut the top so that it’s cropped; giving the item new life. I like the distressed look of old t-shirts, denim, sweaters, and tops because it has a very rugged feel. it’s also effortless. Lounge wear is supposed to be laidback without trying too hard. It’s down-to-earth and not pretentious! I also like to hold on to worn-out jeans. My jeans tend to get holes in them after being worn and washed over the years. When a pair of jeans get to that point, I continue to wear them in the house. Sometimes, I get bored with wearing leggings and sweatpants. Wearing my old jeans enables me to keep my lounge wear wardrobe fresh without defaulting to basic and boring. I’m not the type of person that can stay in their pajamas all day. I truly believe that how you dress can elevate your self-esteem even while staying inside.

Hanes sweatshirt. Leggings from Walmart.

For the past several years, I‘ve incorporated #activewear into my wardrobe. Bright sweatshirts and patterned leggings take the stress out of putting an outfit together! And you can easily pair it with dad sneakers or chunky boots when you have to run an errand.

But my favorite staple at the moment is #legwarmers! I’ve been dancing for years and have had professional training. Right now, I’m studying #bellydancing. I purchased some leg warmers for when I rehearse, exercise, and to simply wear around the house. Even if you’re not a dancer it’s always chic to dress like one! But who doesn’t like to blast their favorite song and have a quick dance session now and again?!

Trending Now:

Cropped Hoodie from Rue 21

What’s hot on the radar right now is #tiedye, joggers, and hoodies! The cozier the better. I think we all just want to stay as comfortable and positive as we can in times like these. But the best part is that you can wear these items in the house or on-the-go; looking fierce either way!

My Netflix List:

Since I got my #netflix subscription, I’ve been able to rewatch a couple of my all-time favorite shows such as “The Office” and ”The Twilight Zone”. Currently, I‘ve been binge watching episodes of “Bates Motel”. It‘s a modern spin on the Alfred Hitchcock classic “Psycho”; revealing how Norman Bates became an iconically psychotic maniac. It’s not what I had expected yet it doesn’t disappoint either. The show is a #slowburn, but worth the wait.

I’m holding out to watch “The Tiger King”. I’ve heard YouTubers discuss it and I’ve seen talk show hosts do parodies on “Joe Exotic”, but I don’t think I’m quite ready to drink his Kool Aid. It’s sort of unfathomable how this show has captivated the world’s attention. I haven’t seen one episode and I feel like I know enough about it from how it’s been trending on #socialmedia. Yet, I can’t say that I’ll never watch it. Right now, it’s up in the air for me.

Documentary wise, I recommend watching about Cyntoia Brown. Her case is intriguing. At first you think you have her figured out, but as the documentary brings out more information about Cyntoia, you start to realize that things aren’t as they appear. It’s amazing to see footage of Cyntoia and her legal team over the years as they fight her case and as she grows up in prison. You get the sense that you’re there with her; causing you to sympathize with her. Was she a juvenile killer or was she an abused-disadvantaged young girl defending herself?
