Principals of Preparation

It’s a new year and the comprehension of this evokes the idea of a new opportunity to move forward; becoming better than you were before! But...you just can’t fly by the seat of your pants. Preparation is key! As a Christian, I take everything to prayer; seeking GOD’S counsel before I make a move. He knows the end from the beginning and knows what’s best for me. Sometimes it can be hard because it seems like at times GOD is silent. My main prayer is that “if it is not Your will then You Will not establish it.” I believe that this keeps me safe and protected in the Will of GOD.

I just don’t make moves and count the cost later when it all hits the fan. This will save you from unnecessary heartache and pain as you trust in The LORD. Faith does demand patience as we wait on GOD. I’ll admit, that sometimes I get anxious. Everyday, to me, seems like it could be thee day for GOD to move on my behalf; turning things around. I believe that His timing is perfect. Yet, I struggle with this at times because I can only see what’s in front of me. I know that when the breakthrough comes, it will all make sense and I will see that GOD is indeed Faithful and a good GOD. The same is true for you!

Let’s further discuss some simple ways that you can continue to prepare yourself as you embark on a potential prospect.

RESEARCH:

You don’t have to overwhelm yourself by purchasing books or spending hours online looking for information. But, a little research does go a long way! Find legit websites and resources that provide top notch information on the subject that you are focused on (concerning your pending potential endeavor).

I would also suggest talking to anyone you may know who has experience with what you’re interested in. This person or persons will provide you with an honest real-life perspective. You will gain true knowledge of the positive and negative sides of the situation for you to take in to consideration.

EVALUATE:

Now, take a hard look at your current arrangement. Evaluate your circumstance(s) by noting what has worked for you presently and what hasn’t. Next, document either literally (my suggestion) or mentally how you feel this new change will benefit your current situation. Also remember the facts that you have gleaned from doing research and consulting the person or persons that you know who are living it. Be honest with yourself, it’s easy to think of everything going swell, but true preparation demands taking every possible outcome in to consideration. Even if you don’t have everything that you need presently to make the endeavor happen; consider what you do have available to you. This will enable you to still make some type of step that helps you progress toward your ultimate goal! Where there is a will, there is a way.

COMPARE:

Making changes can be exciting yet there is always a level of pressure to anything that you do. Through your research, evaluation, and (first and foremost) prayers; compare all these things to see what your plausible outcome may look like. It’s really just putting all of your notes in a balance to see which side holds more weight. Will this new change be more positive than negative; doing more good than harm? Or will this decision make things worse. Some things are worth the sacrifice and cost, but you must discern and determine if this potential change is that type of situation.

Like I stated at the start, I’m a Christian, so I take all of my opinions, research, and desires to The LORD to see how He will lead me. Sometimes when I thought I shouldn’t pursue an opportunity, I found out later on that it was actually His Will for me at the time. Don’t be afraid to be bold, but also be an adult. The actions and choices that you make today will affect you tomorrow; either beneficial or detrimental.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

So whether you’re thinking about getting married, wanting to start a family, eyeing a job opportunity, thinking about changing your major, or contemplating a move to a new city; be sure to take these key notes and apply them to your situation. You’re future self will be glad that you made the investment in counting the costs; thoroughly evaluating the situation in order to make the best possible decision for yourself and/or your family!
