Let’s review these top 10 iconic fashion #aesthetics that are timeless must-haves for every true lady!
These 10 essentials that I’m highlighting span over 6 decades; proving that these trends will never go out of style and are crucial for every fashion girl, fashionista, and fashion-lover’s wardrobe. I’m personally interested in timeless, structured, and well-tailored pieces that will last for generations to come; enabling me to pass them off to my daughters.
Get your notepad (or iPad) out and take a few notes for your next shopping excursion as we breakdown these “Throwback Chic” fashion trends!
SCARVES:
Preferably silk or satin, scarves, are a great way to instantly transform an outfit from basic to posh. They can be tied around your neck in lieu of a statement necklace or around your hair in place of a headband or hat (especially on those days when your hair doesn’t want to cooperate).
POLKA DOTS:
This style is my favorite pattern to wear. I have a Polka Dotted scarf, jacket, blouses, and dress pants! Polka Dots are funky, flirty, and will make you stand out in the crowd. You can wear them low-key or dressed up for an event/night out.
LIQUID LINER:
This has become a favorite #aesthetic of mine since my early twenties. I was in awe (and still am); watching old black and white flicks of actresses modeling the simple liner look with a pale, nude, or bold red lip color. I enjoy doing this look when I don’t want to do too much with my make up. Yet, I want a little something more than just the “no make up-make up” look. It’s simple and flawless; making for an effortlessly sophisticated look.
BLAZERS/SUITS:
These tailored jackets make anyone look like a professional! They can be dressed up or down with either a t-shirt or turtleneck; making for a simplified-put together style. I like pairing blazers with jeans for a casual look that still speaks volumes; conveying that I’m youthful yet mature (being in my late twenties). I’m also interested in #suits as they create the same effect and can be worn for an event (paired with heels) or going out for brunch (paired with cute sneakers)! Suits are another timeless trend that will never fade away from the fashion forecast.
TURTLENECKS:
These are one of those trends that you definitely should never throw away! I’ve had moments when I had things that I threw out; thinking I wouldn’t want it anymore (only to realize later on that I should’ve held on to it)! As I mentioned before, turtlenecks, are great paired under blazers. They can also be worn alone with a long statement necklace or big bold earrings. Turtlenecks are the perfect style for this cold winter season that we are battling; enabling you to look warm and fierce all at the same time!
AESTHETIC BONUS
FAUX FUR: Need I say more? It looks expensive and adds a pop of glamour to a basic outfit. Drape it over your shoulders and go on with your bad self!
PEARLS:
I always feel classy and elegant when I throw on a pearl necklace and earrings! They are Old Hollywood nostalgic and can transform your basic t-shirt and jeans into an insta-glam outfit.
LBD (LITTLE BLACK DRESS):
The iconic LBD is vital for every woman’s closet. This dress is the essential go-to for every event from date night to the office meeting/party, to your best friend’s birthday dinner, and everything else in between! Every fashion girl should have at least one LBD to rely on; especially on those days when it seems like you can’t find anything to wear. Throw on your LBD with pearls, or a silk/satin scarf tied around your neck, or paired with a blazer over top; depending upon the event your attending.
RED LIPSTICK:
This hue is becoming on all skin shades and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! This bold lip color is a favorite of mine; especially wearing it alone paired with the “no make up-make up” look. I don’t like to do any bold eye shadow colors when rocking red lipstick and again, it is nostalgic of Old Hollywood actresses in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s films.
TIGHTS/PANTYHOSE:
This #aesthetic has a habit of resurfacing now and again. Most millennial women don’t wear tights or pantyhose unlike women who grew up generations prior and are accustomed to doing so. Yet, these staples are perfect for the winter season; enabling you to wear your LBD or any other dress while out in the cold (covering your bare legs from being exposed). I also recommend investing in a couple of pairs to use as layers underneath your leggings and your jeans for added warmth.
GIRDLES:
I wear these when I’m on my period as added protection; keeping my pad in place and insuring that I can “keep it clean” if you know what I mean! But, girdles also help to conceal your stomach so your clothing lays better against your body. Girdles aren’t waist trainers, but are needed in every woman’s fashion arsenal to make your outfits look their best on your body.
And there you have it! These 10 timeless iconic staples are essential; amping up your style-game! For more posts on Fashion and Style, be sure to subscribe to AESTHETIC: The Art of Me.
