Eyes. Lips. Face. #MYNEWFAVE

Updated: Aug 20, 2018

Happy Monday! Today's post is inspired by #mynewfave makeup products from the company ELF (Eyes. Lips. Face.). If you follow me on Instagram then you've seen my post from a week or so where I posted a picture of my latest #makeuphaul. I'm going to share some insight on why I like the brand, a brief rundown of the company in general, my favorite products thus far, and future items I can't wait to get my hands on (as well as where to purchase these goodies for yourself)!

Why ELF?

Packaging and marketing mean everything to me as a consumer. While shopping randomly one day at a local chain-department store, I became acquainted with the brand, as I was attracted to their clean minimalist appearance. Slowly my collection of ELF cosmetics began to grow. When it comes to name brands, I like having products from the same company, solely based on appearance because in my mind it's like having shoes that match perfectly with your purse (or like having the brand's section at the store conveniently available within your home). Another reason why I'm digging the product right now is the quality of their products. ELF offers a wide variety of cosmetics, brushes, cleansers, and everything else in between. I'm satisfied with what I own so far (as I continue to build my collection) because the products deliver giving me a beautiful finish upon completing my look for the day. My final reason is an awesome reason (especially if you keep a tight budget, but not too tight so you can still look cute) and that is the price! I have collectively spent under $50 for all of the ELF products that I own to-date (10 items)! ELF isn't a tacky makeup company and even though their prices are cheap their quality isn't. Honestly, I am surprised that they aren't more popular than what they are. I've noticed that in some stores their items are at the end of the line so to speak after the major drug store heavy hitters such as Maybelline, Revlon, Covergirl, and even Wet N Wild. In comparison, I prefer ELF over Covergirl because ELF's products provide better coverage. When I tried to use Covergirl's powder foundation I felt that it didn't give me enough coverage and it went on blotchy. As a woman of color, shopping for quality makeup that fits your tone and doesn't burn a hole in your wallet can be hard to come by.

My Top FAVS

  • Kabuki Brush: boasts of providing an "air bush like finish" and it does just that guaranteeing a flawless application every time.

  • Lip Balm Tint: I like to apply this on my lips before I apply any lip gloss or lipstick in order to keep my lips moisturized throughout the day. This lip balm keeps my lips from chafing/peeling and is great also by itself when you want to do a more natural look (giving you simplistic peachy pout)#nomakeupmakeup

  • Lip Lacquer: In the shade #burgundy, this lip gloss provides ultra shine, long-lasting quality, and a rich texture that isn't messy.

  • Blending Brush: My favorite part about this makeup tool is that it is compact fitting perfectly within my #fannypack or small purse (making it convenient for me to do a quick touch-up while on the go)!

Where to Buy

Unfortunately, most drug stores and even large chain stores such as Walmart and Ulta Beauty don't provide liquid/powder foundations from ELF for darker shades. So if you are a brown-skinned girl like moi, you will have to go to the link below at the end of this post to shop. The good thing about their site and company is that they have a wide selection to choose from making it easy to find the perfect fit for your skin. It can be daunting when a makeup line only provides the generic three shades to choose from; clumping all of their consumers into one shade when in actuality everyone's skin tone has various shades to it (some lighter than others). But overall, these are a few places where you can shop to pick up some of the items that I have mentioned and other beauty #musthaves

  • Target

  • Dollar Tree

  • Dollar General

  • Walmart

  • Ulta Beauty
